Headteacher’s Welcome

As Headteacher of Priory School Edgbaston, I am delighted to offer you a very warm welcome to our website.

It is both an honour and a privilege to lead Priory School alongside a team of immensely talented, dedicated and caring professionals who take seriously the responsibility of preparing our students to thrive in the modern world. Our teaching philosophy is simple: no child should experience excellent teaching by chance; they should experience it by design. Through our High-TEMPO framework, which underpins every lesson, we ensure that high expectations, engagement and excellence are standard, every day in every lesson.

We are a proudly non-selective school, founded on the belief that there is no ceiling to a child’s potential. Our consistently strong academic outcomes are testament to our conviction that all students can achieve highly and often exceed what they ever thought possible. As a through-school, one of our greatest privileges is witnessing the remarkable journey of our children, from their earliest days in Poppets at just six months old through to confident, accomplished young adults leaving us at eighteen, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges that await them.

As one of the country’s few Catholic Heritage Schools, we are immensely proud of our exceptional pastoral care and the values that define our community: honesty, self-belief, passion, respect and determination. These values are lived every day within a truly inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and every individual is valued. Our rich history and Catholic foundations continue to shape who we are, whilst fully embracing a modern and outward-looking approach to education. Generations of pupils have been nurtured and inspired by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, and that legacy remains evident today in a school where every child is known, supported and encouraged to flourish.

Set within seventeen acres of beautiful historic parkland, just moments from the heart of Birmingham, Priory School offers a truly unique environment in which to learn and grow. Our students enjoy the benefits of extensive outdoor space and study in historic buildings designed by Yeoville Thomason, the renowned architect responsible for some of Birmingham’s most iconic landmarks, including Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Birmingham Town Hall.

Visitors to Priory School often comment first on the warmth of our community. We are a family in the truest sense of the word and place great value on the partnership between school and home. Together with parents and carers, we work to develop young people of character, compassion and resilience, recognising that it takes a whole community to raise a child and help them realise their potential.

I hope that as you explore our website, you gain a sense of the many opportunities and advantages that a Priory education provides. Of course, no website can truly capture the spirit of our school, and I would strongly encourage you to visit us and experience it for yourself. I would be delighted to welcome you personally and show you around the school of which I am immensely proud, where I am sure you will agree that there really is something extraordinary in the air, where tradition inspires ambition, every child is known and valued, and futures are transformed every single day.
