The role of the Governing Council and The Chair of Governors

The Governing Council at Priory School provides strategic leadership, oversight and accountability for educational standards, financial sustainability, safeguarding and the school’s long-term development. Acting in the best interests of pupils and in line with the school’s charitable objectives, the Council sets vision and policy while supporting and constructively challenging senior leaders.

The Chair of Governors leads the Council’s work, ensuring effective governance, clear decision-making and strong communication with key stakeholders.

To preserve fairness and impartiality, day-to-day operational matters and parental concerns are managed by the Headteacher in line with the school’s published policies and procedures, enabling the Governing Council to remain independent and objective should issues be formally escalated.
