We are unique in that we provide for the entire educational journey from the age of just six months until the age of eighteen. Below, you will find our Curriculum Commitment, which articulates the overarching goals of every lesson, interaction, and experience we create for your children while they are in our care. Further down this page are more detailed summaries and reflections on the curricula provided in each part of our school.
Our Curriculum Commitment:
All students will experience a broad and balanced curriculum that nurtures a compassionate, inclusive and hopeful vision of humanity and the future.
Our curriculum is ambitious for all children. It follows a carefully laid pathway that sequences and accumulates the knowledge and skills that fuel curious minds. We want all students to be lifelong explorers and creators of undiscovered knowledge. We believe this will happen if they possess the confidence to remember and the determination to make connections of their own.
The creative expression of our students’ uniqueness will be seen in the things they say, write, compose, design, create or perform. This will, in turn, secure a courageous young generation with the education and qualifications to freely choose their own future.
A Zero to Eighteen Evolving Curriculum:
Poppets: Within an environment of love and affection, the Outstanding Poppets team focuses on communication and language; personal, social, and emotional development; and physical development. There is no better time in life to secure those “prime areas,” and so much of what follows for every child and young person is rooted in those Early Years. Using those three prime areas as a foundation, the Poppets team draws on its expertise to broaden their world and experiences so that they become more literate and numerate, while making greater sense of the world around them and then learning how to express themselves through art, music, dance, or role play, for instance. Prep School: Prep School leaders ensure that the transition from Early Years is smooth and that our very young children continue to enjoy age-appropriate curriculum experiences that are designed to secure their social and emotional development, as well as increasing levels of academic rigour. A typical week might include guided reading, writing, algebra, mental maths, computing, science, history, and RE—but also swimming, singing, music, drama, dance, art, PE, Spanish, Forest School, or handling snakes and lizards. Senior School and Sixth Form: The fruits or blossoms of one’s first sixteen or eighteen years of life are certainly given the opportunity to bring all of those skills and all of that knowledge to bear in the form of GCSE, BTEC, and A-level examinations. Around the core provision of English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, and religious education, all pupils are free to choose additional courses to study at GCSE level and then select three or four A-levels in their final two years at school.
