How We Keep Parents Informed of School Life

At Priory Poppets, we value strong partnerships with parents and families and believe communication is key to every child’s success. We use Tapestry, an online platform that allows parents and family members to stay connected throughout the day with their child’s room leader, class teacher, and key person. This platform not only shares updates about daily routines, but also celebrates milestones and achievements, helping families feel part of their child’s learning journey. We also maintain an open-door policy, welcoming parents to approach any of our Early Years practitioners at any time. Daily handovers and pick-up times provide an additional opportunity for quick, personal updates, ensuring families feel reassured and informed about their child’s day.

Reports & Progress Updates

Throughout their time at Priory Poppets, we provide regular reports to give you a clear picture of your child’s progress and development:

  • 2-Year Check Report – focusing on the prime areas of development.
  • End of Year Report – for all children, covering both the prime and specific areas outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Nursery Reports – including a mid-year report in February, as well as the annual end-of-year report.

Each end-of-year report includes next steps, so you’ll know exactly what skills your child is developing and how their next class will continue to support them.
Alongside formal reports, Tapestry keeps you up to date on a more personal level:

  • The Care Diary shares practical details about meals, sleep, and routines.
  • Observations sharing your child’s learning experiences and celebrating achievements big and small.

Messaging Portals and Apps

In the Early Years, we ensure parents receive all key information quickly and efficiently through our digital platforms. Parents have access to both the ParentMail app and the Tapestry app, which are used to share important updates. Through these platforms, parents will receive term dates and reminders, information about upcoming extracurricular sessions and the weekly parent briefing. These tools ensure families are always informed and connected with school life.

Parents’ Evenings

In the Early Years, parents are invited to attend two Parents’ Evenings each academic year. These meetings provide valuable time for parents to meet with their child’s Room Leader and Key Person to discuss progress, share achievements, and explore ways to support learning both at home and in nursery. During the meeting, the Key Person will review all seven areas of development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. Together, parents and staff will discuss how the child is progressing against age appropriate milestones, as well as identify next steps to support ongoing learning and development. These next steps will include suggestions for both the nursery setting and at home, ensuring a consistent and supportive approach.
