Introduction

Science Programmes of Study and Specifications

  • Key Stage 3Year 11 constructing a model heart
    • From Years 7 to 9, students follow the National Curriculum, sitting SATs exams in Year 9.
  • Key Stage 4: 
    • From the end of Year 9 and into Year 10 students study AQA Science A, a modular GCSE course examined through six multiple choice papers.  For examination dates click here.

    In Year 11 students study for a second GCSE, AQA Additional Science. This is examined in June, for examination dates click here.

    In Years 10 and 11 investigative skills are also assessed.

  • Key Stage 5:

    From September 2008, new A-level courses are being introduced in Science.  Below are links to our current specifications and those that will be taught from September 2008.

    The Science department also organise

    a large number of outings throughout the year. Destinations include:

    - Leicester Nation Space Centre

    - Thinktank

    - Revision lectures for GCSE and A-level

    - Festival of Chemistry

    We were also very proud to have two Year 11 students accepted onto the national Chemistry Camp last year.
