On Februray 5th 2008, 38 pupils and 5 members of staff set off to Paris, in a joint venture between the Music and MFL departments.
After a slightly rough crossing from Dover to Calais, we were then blessed with glorious weather and over the following four days had the opportunity to climb the Eiffel Tower, take a trip on a Bateau Mouche down the Seine, visit the Louvre and also Notre Dame Cathedral.
Pupils had plenty of opportunities to practise their French in shops and restaurants - many even decided to buy and wear berets for the week!
Whilst in Paris, the school choir gave two outstanding concerts - one at L''Eglise St Margeruite and one at Chateau Lormoy - both performances receiving many compliments from audience members.
All the accompanying staff were incredibly proud of the pupils, who truly made the most of every opportunity available.
A fun, educational and unforgettable week was had by all including the residents of Chateau Lormoy who had this to say in their newsletter:
" A group of 40 young ladies from Priory School in Birmingham, England’s second city, came to sing a concert at Château Lormoy at the beginning of February. It was their first concert abroad as part of an educational and linguistic trip.
" The concert was the result of a 3 year journey. They sang religious and secular songs for the delight of all the residents and their families who had gathered in the hall of l’Orangerie of Château Lormoy.
"We would like to thank and congratulate all the singers as well as their choirmistress, Rachel Thorpe, for their performance. "
Here are some photos of our trip!
