Preparatory School
Boys & Girls age 4 - 11 years

As a parent you'll want to give your child the very best start in their school life. At Priory we can help you do just that.

We have combined the best in traditional and progressive teaching methods to develop an educational programme which instills a love of learning. While closely linked to the National Curriculum, lessons are broad and balanced, encouraging independent thinking.

Teaching methods are tailored to the needs of each child.  The academic high achievers are continually stretched whilst our learning enrichment centre provides specialist support to children with speech and language challenges such as dyslexia.

Small class sizes provide children with the personal space to discover and develop their own unique talents and a wide range of extra curricular activities help to extend children's interests and learning.

We are the only school in the city to offer 'forest school' sessions.  The forest school ethos originated in Scandanavia and uses the outdoor environment as a catalyst for successful learning in the classroom.  Pupils enjoy regular outdoor sessions in our beautiful grounds where they explore the environment, discover their creativity and develop vital problem-solving skills.

Our key stage 2 pupils spend one afternoon a week developing their sporting skills in football, rugby, cricket, netball, rounders, tennis and cross country.  There are also regular matches with local schools to develop their competition skills.  Please click here for match reports and our fixture lists.

Our arts provision has been recognised by the Arts Council for its accessibility and excellence.  We host regular arts days where children enjoy taster sessions in a range of artistic activities - both traditional and contemporary - and there are ample opportunities to join the orchestra, choir and perform in productions.  For more details on the Arts at Priory School please click here

At Priory, children are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life and individual strengths are recognised and rewarded on a regular basis throughout the school, developing self-confidence and mutual respect.

Children receive regular homework and parents are able to talk to their child’s class teacher at the end of every school day whilst half-term reports and regular parents evenings keep you up-to-date with your child’s progress.

Entry into our Preparatory School is based upon the child spending the day at the school in their appropriate class.
