Established in Edgbaston in 1936 as one of the Convent schools of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ) the School changed its name in 2001 to Priory School. The sisters of the SHCJ ceased managing the school in 1986, but have maintained close contact and continue to take a friendly interest in the school's future.

A Grand Picnic to mark the 200th Anniversary

of the birth of Cornelia Connelly

2009 marked the 200th anniversary of the birth of Cornelia Connelly, the founder of the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus who opened our school on its present site in 1936.

Cornelia Connelly loved to take her pupils on picnics and they have become a great tradition within the schools founded by her.   To celebrate the bi-centennial of her birth, our Parents Association transformed our annual Summer Fayre into a Grand Picnic in Cornelia’s honour.

During the Grand Picnic a ceremony was also held to mark the official unveiling of the Fountain in the grounds.  The Fountain has been lovingly restored this year in honour of Cornelia Connelly at the request of former Headmistress, Mrs Elaine Brook.
