Monday 26th January:

Year 7 / 8: Priory 20 - 8 Saltley

Priory continued their winning ways by beating Saltley in a game dominated by Priory. Priory started the game poorly with miss-placed passes and not winning rebounds but Lewis Douglas and Guy Slater-Harris still managed to put Priory into an 8-0 lead. Priory then found their feet by slowing the game down and playing tactically well, with Lewis Douglas leading the scoring with 9 points. The second half was controlled by Priory as they dominated the boards and won every rebound offensively and defensively. Debutants Jon Carlile, Samran Ahmed and Mikey Rai played well in their first game with Mikey Rai contributing 4 points.

 

 

Wednesday 14th January:

Year 7 / 8: Priory 25 - 22 Edenhurst

A combined Year 7 & 8 team won their first ever game of basketball on Wednesday beating Edenhurst (Stafford) by 3 points in a closely fought game. Priory showed huge potential throughout the game and were never losing at anytime.  However, Edenhurst improved throughout and at the end of the 3rd quarter the score was tied at 19-19. Priory stepped up the pace in the final quarter as they raced to a 6 points lead but Edenhurst’s never say die spirit led a spirited comeback but some good defensive work by Lewis Douglas ensured victory. Lewis Douglas was Priory’s Man of the Match scoring 16 points and leading the team in offensive and defensive rebounds, Dan Telphia, Guy Slater–Harris and Dan Evans also contributed to the scoring.
