Chamberlain Win 1st Basketball Interhouse Competition

Thursday 20th January:

The Year 9 and 10 boys battled it out in the Inter house Basketball Competition Thursday night. The games were extremely close with some tense and frantic Basketball played. After the league stage, all 3 houses were deadlocked with two wins each. A free-throw competition was used to decide the finalists and Chamberlain and Tolkien edged through. The final was very close but baskets from Marcus Walker and Patrisse Bassiri were enough for Chamberlain to sneak the win and obtain bragging rights as the best house. A big well done to all the competitors who played with an excellent attitude and in an organised manner! Chamberlain team: Patrisse Bassiri, Guy Slater Harris, Marcus Walker, Harcharan Virdee, Alex Barrett, Rav Bains, Ravinder Siani and Gian Surdhar.

 

Monday 10th January:

Saltley 16 - 18 Priory

The Year 9&10 basketball team won their first game of the season yesterday, beating Saltley 18-16. The team defended superbly and restricted Saltley to some long range shooting, unfortunately Priory’s offense was static and Priory were losing 6-5 at half time. Priory improved their concentration and activeness in the 2nd half and this lead to Priory gaining the lead 18-16 with one minute remaining, a frantic minute saw Priory dominate the basket and run out winners in a close game.  Point scorers were: Patrisse Bassiri, Maxwell Martin, Umar Farooq, Harcharan Virdee and Dan Telphia. Player of the Match: Umar Farooq for his excellent all round performance in defence and attack.
