Wednesday 23rd November:
Priory 4 - 0 Shrewsbury "C"
Congratulations to the Year 10 & 11 football team who beat Shrewsbury School’s C team yesterday 4-0. Priory started brightly and scored 2 goals in the space of 3 minutes. The first by Umar Farooq after a mazy dribble through the entire Shrewsbury defence and the second by Nabeel Khan with a cool finish. Priory then defended superbly and countered every Shrewsbury attack. Further goals from Gian Surdhar (a toe-poke volley?!) and another Umar goal sealed the victory. Man of the match: Maxwell Martin with a superb defensive display
Wednesday 9th November:
Priory 2 - 2 Heathfields
- The Year 10&11 Football team fought hard yesterday against a strong Heathfields (Kidderminster) team. Priory were asked to pass the ball in the team talk and that they followed the instructions superbly, passing the ball around clinically & confidently. Unfortunately one defensive mistake allowed Heathfields to score and end the half 1-0 up. A re-shuffle at half-time to a more attacking formation, allowed Daniel Telphia to force his way through the Heathfields defence – round the keeper and slot a cool finish into the open goal. Priory then defended well and when it looked like they had secured a draw, another defensive error allowed the Heathfields striker to run unchallenged and score. With 1 minute left, Priory piled forward and forced a corner. Mr Spencer sent every man up for the corner including goalkeeper Patriss, this extra man caused confusion as Daniel Evans swung the corner in which missed everyone and found an un-marked Rav Bains. Rav caught the ball on the half—volley which rocketed into the roof of net and caused a full-team celebration and secured an unlikely 2-2 draw! Man of the match: Mikey “Giggs” Rai who was a constant threat on the wing.
Wednesday 5th October:
Priory 1 - 0 Chase Academy
- The Year 10 & 11 Football team started their season off with a fine performance against an impressive Chase Academy team. Priory deserved their 1-0 victory with Raees Ahmed scoring from 20 yards. Umar Farooq again shone throughout the game with touches of brilliance and a new defence of Reiss Greenwell, Dan Telphia, Jasvir Mann and Maxwell Martin defended with discipline and intelligence. Man of the match was Patriss Bassiri, who was in "cat-like" form.
