Wednesday 23rd November:

Priory v Rosslyn

  • Priory continued their recent good form yesterday as they welcomed Rosslyn School from Hall Green.  Goals from Abaan Butt, (making a rare outfield appearance), Munmeet Jagpal (2) and Nathan Mead (2) secured a convincing 5-0 victory.  Priory could have scored many more goals had it not been for a truly outstanding display from the Rosslyn goalkeeper.  Midfielders Sarhil Khan, Abbasali Hemraj and Ali Dahya were very strong and passed the ball well whilst providing excellent cover for defenders Alfie Price and Ryan Wallace.  Man of the match- Nathan Mead (Outstanding stamina and two goals).  Team- Abaan Butt, Ali Dahya, Nathan Mead, Abbasali Hemraj, Munmeet Jagpal, Sarhil Khan, Alfie Price and Ryan Wallace.
  • In a reversal of fortunes, Priory ‘B’ team were beaten 0-4 by Rosslyn ‘B’.  Despite suffering a loss, the boys enjoyed the game and played with excellent sportsmanship and were dignified in defeat.  With many of the boys playing in their first ever competitive match, I am sure that vast improvements will be made in future contests.  Well done to all the children involved. Man of the match- Joshua Harper (Excellent effort and encouragement to team mates).  Team- Karim Alibhai, Samuel Claughton,  Joshua Harper, Calum Howard, Brijesh Karthigesu, Samuel Puzey, Talha Razak and  Amaan Shaikh.

Friday 18th November:

Priory 3 - 3 Arnold Lodge

  1. Year 3 and 4 boys played their first competitive game of the season on Friday 18th November against Arnold Lodge (Leamington).  An enthralling game was enjoyed by all with an eventual 3-3 result.  Priory never fell behind during the match and opened the scoring with a powerful low shot from Gurkurit Jagpal.  Arnold Lodge quickly equalised before Gurkurit scored his second with a brilliantly placed free kick.  Again Arnold Lodge drew level as they exploited a large gap in Priory’s defence.  Michael Okonkwo looked to have secured a victory with an excellent individual goal in the final few minutes only for Arnold Lodge to score the last goal of the game with only seconds remaining.  Well done to all involved. Man of the match - Tom Lumley (An excellent defensive display) Team - Yusuf Ali, Gurkurit Jagpal, Ali Kazi, Tom Lumley, Mikhaeel Malik, Fuzail Mukadam, Michael Okonkwo, Yassin Parpia and Max Parsons.

Thursday 17th November:

Priory 6 - 3 Arnold Lodge

  • Well done to the Prep Football Team who achieved an excellent victory over a confident and well organised Arnold Lodge (Leamington) team yesterday.  Winning the match 6-3 with goals from Munmeet Jagpal (3), Nathan Mead (2) and Gurkurit Jagpal, the team worked extremely hard for each other and were deserved victors.  A superb goalkeeping display from Abaan Butt and robust defending from Alfie Price, Sarhil Khan and Brijesh Karthigesu did not allow Arnold Lodge to mount a serious challenge.  Well done to all involved.

Encouraging Start to the Season for the Prep Team

Priory Boys recorded their first win of the 2011-12 season with an impressive 3-1 victory over Hawksley School.  A very small available squad performed well in the King's Norton 7-a-side Tournament and produced some respectable displays. Being awarded a 4th place finish in the tournament was pleasing, especially when considering that this was the first time the boys had played together. Well done to all the players and a special mention for Munmeet Y6 (Hat-trick) and Ibaan Y6 (new pupil at Priory School and a fine goal keeping display). SQUAD - (Y4) Gurkurit & Michael (Y5) Abbasali, Alfie, Brijesh & Karim (Y6) Munmeet & Ibaan.
