Priory School Dance Academy

Introduction

Priory School Dance Academy meets during enrichment time most days. A variety of dance disciplines are studied including; ballet, contemporary, jazz, street dance, salsa, hip hop, Latin American, acrobatics, cheerleading, Indian dance and tap.

We perform a dance production every two years where students showcase their talents within a specific theme which so far have included: ’Celebrating 70 years of the Hollywood Film Industry’ and ‘Dance through the Decades’. Our next production will be in March 2008 as part of an ‘Arts Showcase’ evening where the theme is ‘A Celebration of Culture’.

Students have also performed in school events including the summer garden party and the annual awards ceremony.

There is also the opportunity for older students to assist as coaches, training and teaching younger students. This experience can then be included on CV’s and is particularly useful for those students doing their Duke of Edinburgh Award for the ‘service’ section.
