Welcome to Priory School – a school where every child succeeds.
2009 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Cornelia Connelly, the founder of the Sisters of the Holy Child, Jesus,. It was the Sisters who opened this school on its present site, in the heart of Edgbaston, in 1936.
Today we continue her vision of providing an education “to meet the wants of the age” within a happy, safe and secure environment where each child is confident in the knowledge that they are valued for their own unique gifts.
Our focus is on discovering and developing the talents and abilities of each pupil, ensuring they exceed their own expectations. To this end, we provide an incredibly diverse range of opportunities for each child to fulfil themselves academically, artistically, spiritually, culturally and in sport.
A curriculum developed to meet the needs of each child instills within each pupil a love of learning, a pride in their talents and a strong sense of mutual respect for fellow pupils and staff. The overall experience creates confident, well-rounded individuals who are able to work as a team, whilst at the same time demonstrate independent thinking and leadership qualities.
Entry into our Preparatory School is based upon the child spending the day at the school. Entry into Year 7 of our Senior School is through an Admissions Day which consists of assessment tests and taster lessons. We do not select pupils on academic ability alone, but assess the full range of a child’s talents and abilities in order to clarify both what each child can do and what they could achieve given the opportunities available at Priory School.
We also offer a generous range of scholarship and supported places for pupils entering Year 7 to ensure more children are able to benefit from the Priory experience.
I am proud to be leading a school where every child succeeds, a school where every child feels positive about themselves, a school where each success is celebrated and where determination, commitment and effort are applauded.
Do visit us soon at one of our Open Days, or make an appointment for a personal visit, and experience us ‘in action’.
